Quality Standard:【产品介绍】Glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase
(GAPDH) was considered a classical glycolytic
protein involved exclusively in cytosolic energy
production. However, recent evidence suggests that it is
a multifunctional protein displaying diverse
activities distinct from its conventional metabolic
role. These new roles f o r GAPDH may be dependent on
its subcellular localization, oligomeric state o r on
the proliferative state of the cell. Results suggest
that human cells contain significant intracellular levels
of enzymatically inactive GAPDH which is age-
independent. The possibility is considered that
the functional diversity of GAPDH may be mediated either
by posttranslational alteration o r by
subcellular protein:protein a n d / o r protein:nucleic
acid interactions (1). GAPDH mRNA levels, protein,
a n d enzymatic activity have been shown to
increase increase in 3T3 cells after exposure
to physiological concentrations of insulin (2).
