白色片状结晶。不溶于水、醚和碱,溶于酸、乙醇和三氯甲烷。溶于酸并形成复合有机阳离子。溶液无色,与MoO 、UO 和Ti4+等生成黄色配合物;与阴离子或络阴离子如Cl-、IrX 等形成缔合物,易被三氯甲烷或四氯化碳等有机溶剂所萃取。热至130℃失水。熔点为179℃。
